Look what my daddy told me about!!!!

So my father was reading the philadelphia inquirer the other day and told me about this chain-link fence at UPenn.  This design firm has created chain link fences that mimic lace.

Its pretty wild looking

No, I am not weaving a basket, I’m making architecture

So some of you if not all have been commenting on my recent surfaces using weaving, but hey guess what it is not as silly as it may seem.  Kent Suhrbier recommended I look at Shigeru Ban and his works.  So I’m passing it on to all you blogger folk because his work is very creative and uses unusual materials.  So check it out.

Ruwenzori Sculpture Foundation

Detail of Sculpture by Eginja Eriyimba

So I was just looking for ideas for our recent studio project, and I stumbled upon this website for this foundation in Africa where they produce sculptures.  I really like the idea, and the pictures of the work are pretty interesting.  I would love to spend time at this village and study sculpture.

Focusing more on the architecture side, the foundation was build by the architects Cullum and Nightingale Architects.  They have done a few overseas projects among others.
