TOO MUCH TENSION (Dear Liza)

Tension gives form to the structure and it also has the potential to destroy it. A framed and tensioned cloth is connected to 8 motor units. The analysis of several news-feeds on ‘good’ and ‘bad’ in nowadays world provides the input for those motors that pull and release the hooked membrane. A constant interplay between opposing forces produces movement, deformation and destruction of the material.”

I have way too many questions about this. Why does it randomly cut to the non-red thing? Why doesn’t anything happen? Or DID something happen? What did they make this out of? How big is it? What is it for? Why does it look like it’s in a microwave?

It’s weird, definitely, because it grows in different directions at different times, mostly at very slow speeds. I’m now trying to remember what Liza did with tension…at least, in this sense of the word.

it’s not what i did with tension. the word “tension” was a danger word in red studio 1st semester. don mentioned it, everyone started using it, our professors cringed everytime we said it. when jeff king and mary lou were visiting our studio, issac said “i like the tension in it” and mary lou said “why don’t you pay atTENSION”.
